Do you have any links or readings on what genes from the past we have supposedly shed All mammals lost the nucleus in their red blood cells. Presumably this allows more room for hemoglobin, but in the process the ability to regenerate lost digits was also lost. I have read informed speculation that junk DNA is a sign that our species went through it's punctuation phase (rapid change) relatively recently. If we encounter a long stretch of equibrium then junk will get jetisoned. It can't all be cleaned out at once or it could create difficulties for chromosomes to line up during sex. TP
