I would bet the reason for INTC $50 greater ASP has more to do, with the overall amount of SERVER, MOBILE processors that it sell as a percentage of all there chip sales. Were a majority of chips, on a wieghted average basis are sold by AMD is more than likly lower ASP desktop parts.

"Does this mean that Dell is paying Intel 50% higher price than H-P pays AMD for similar desktop processor ?"

It could be even more than that, although Dell probably gets discounts from Intel that HP doesn't.

But, the chipsets from Intel tend to be more expensive, the motherboards are more complicated to lay out and the cooling and power supply requirements are greater(at least with P4 chips). All of these are a cost.
