Re: The reason Intel has been acting so frantically this month is that Athlon X2 will be 80 to 110mm2 on 65nm (depending on whether it's the L3 version or not).

Future die sizes will depend on whether AMD can use ZRAM or something similar to increase cache density. Revision F with 2x1MB L2 cache is supposed to be 220 mm^2. If cache density doesn't improve relative to the shrink 220*(65^2)/(90^2) would be 115 mm^2. More likely the die size would be around 130 mm^2 without cache density improvements, and that is without any L3 cache.

Dan, Yes, to what you said. More over as Intel looses share their credibility fades. They may be able to backend this quarter to save face regarding market share.

They and their institutional share holders seem desparate.
