rather than jump in for the quick fix or to let any land profiteering I think we should pull back and do some relevant big picture studies the city is sinking the marsh lands nad swamps are being drained the delta is sinking and diminishing at an astounding rate the barrier islands are disappearing curbing the mississippi to protect cities [and not only new orleans] is prohibiting the flooding and building up of silt silt = land it's a complex problem that deserves and needs long range planning
