<Iran insists that its nuclear programme is purely civilian, not military, and that it has the right to conduct nuclear fuel research. >

What is hilarious is that people actually believe them. I have explained why it is patently false. Right here in SI, people truly do think Iran is after a bit of nuclear energy for electricity generation - while they export gas to India through a huge and expensive pipeline. Some people must lack logic circuits or something.

Iran has the right to develop nuclear bombs, and say that they intend to wipe Israel off the map. Israel has the right to wipe them off the map. Since Israel has a good collection of nukes and Iran doesn't, it seems likely that the wiping will be done by the intended victim rather than the Islamic Jihad fanatics. It is sensible to take Iran at it's word, just as Adolf's word in Mein Kampf should have been believed.

Russia will NOT like the idea of Islamic Jihad fanatics having nukes. They will like that less than anyone else. Look what happened at Beslan. As Islamic Jihad can do that, they will do anything, including using nukes against Russia. It should be easy to get a bomb into Moscow from Chechnya/Iran.
