tp,

re:Why didn't they rescue some of the people while they were busy taking their guns?

They didn't want rescuing they wanted to stay in their homes and defend themselves from the roving bands of gangs. Police were just stopping by to say hello and confiscating private, legally owned property from home owners. That's simply against the US Constitution and the second amendment. Regardless of the fact you don't like guns - that's not the issue, police violated the second amendment on direct orders from Ray Nagin.

They forced some to evacuate and didn't provide receipts for the property they confiscated, without a receipt you can't get your property back at a later date.
