Most buyers don't have a clear understanding about the exact performance differences between specific CPUs. But I bet many users with four year old computers would be content with an 805 system.

The top of the line systems 4 years ago today were the Athlon XP 2100+ and 2.2GHz/400MHz FSB Northwood. A typical mainstream desktop system would be a 1.7GHz Northwood/Athlon XP 1700+. With all of the improvements to video cards, hard drives and the like most people still using a 4 year old system would consider it a decent upgrade or suitable replacement even if the 805 raw CPU power on single threaded apps isn't good by today's standards and not much better than what was available then.
