Sirhan Sirhan Up for Parole Again

The man who shot Robert F. Kennedy just minutes after he claimed victory in the California presidential primary on June 5, 1968, will be eligible for parole this week, his 13th parole hearing since his conviction.

Sirhan will appear before two parole board members Wednesday. In the unlikely event that they vote to recommend his release, the final decision will be up to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is married to the niece of the slain former U.S. Attorney General.

Schwarzenegger is married to Maria Shriver. Her mother, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, was a sister of Robert F. Kennedy and President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated in 1963.

Most observers believe the possible conflict of interest situation will not arise, since it is highly unlikely that the parole board will ever vote for his release.
