Oh, I see....

Well, I would say that wars are *seldom* fought SOLELY for 'humanitarian' reasons --- there are usually lot's 'o old fashioned, time tested reasons like power politics, greed, etc., wrapped up in the mix... but I'm with you insofar that I *would not say* that the Western proxy war against the Soviets in Afghanistan had 'nothing humanitarian' about it.

Far from it, humanitarian reasons were a big part of it (if not 'the biggest part'... :)

...After all, we *really* wanted to give the Soviets a bloody nose.

(It was also interesting to see how much the Soviet/Afghan War contributed to the fall of the Soviet Empire....)
