are you saying that those numbers are absolute and independent of drivers, configuration and memory type?

Eracer:

Low resolution demos do not tax the CPU as much as in game playing with FRAPS. With demo playing, gone are the usage for AI, physics, user input, etc. And the driver could do a lot of the difference. It was optimized for Conroe. How would Conroe do with a driver optimized for A64? How would it do with a Nvidia SLI system optimized for A64? A simple command to have any CPU with "GenuineIntel" in the CPU string simply render every other frame in the driver would boost speeds 62% even with a CPU 19% slower. Intel didn't allow any such checks. They didn't allow a standard OTS GPU driver to be used. Many of the normal things done in a review were not done.

You make a lot of assumptions on a system setup by only one side. Many of them have been proven untrue. Of those that are left, many may not stand up to scrutiny. There was no good reason for the drivers to be modified, the software not being the retail versions supplied or the demos non standard. This is a CPU that is supposed to run x86 and AMD64 software. This smacks of the stuff done when P4 was "previewed". The selections of benchmarks are themselves suspicious. The hardware selections are suspicious. And were found to be bad right away.
