He died in 99 at the age of 87. He had walked to the cafe for coffee and then strode over to my mothers and dropped off the bottom line and then returned home, about a mile and half loop that he walked daily. And he walked, I'm 6'3" and step out and I had to hustle to keep up with him. Anyhow the paper boy found him about 3 minutes after he had talked with his neighbor about the beautiful spring day and how he couldn't wait to hit the golf course. Dropped dead on his front doorstep about 5 blocks from the house he was born in.

Shocking for the first hour or two but after grabbing a small bottle of whiskey and going out to the first deer stand I had sat on with him when I was 11 it occurred to me, what a perfect life. Live 87 years doing everything and anything you wanted to do with excellent health until just dropping dead and skipping the nursing home and cancer, etc. Awesome.

So we drank a toast on that deer stand he and I and never had another sad moment over his death.
