I went to look up Montegards from your post and came up with an interesting link to a veteran's travels through Vietnam in 2002. Didn't find what it was saying about montegards but it might be worth reading anyway.

I fear that there will be a whole generation of folks who will be looking back at iraq as you do on vietnam. The government let you folks down and it is this administration thats letting our soldiers down today. This has become the quag we feared. I am going out to buy the new book by General Trainor and Michael Gordon called Cobra 11. I think we should deal with the failure of this admin early on and honestly. This has been one straight down hill roller coaster ride for three years now. Our men paid a horrific price and the language of this admin is already changing saying things like we gave the iraqis a chance and it was up to them......blah blah blah. No, our admin expected flowers and then early on ignored the insurgence at its inception and now when we finally have competent military in place and a great ambassador, events get out of control at the same time american public opinion on the war shifts. A couple of months here for the iraqis to get it right and it dont look good. Good night Gracie.
