They must be crazy, Russia is not keen to see Islamic Jihad wielding any more nukes than they already have in Pakistan. <Iran's inability so far to win Russia's unequivocal support for its plans ...continued... But one political scientist who speaks regularly with members of the Foreign Ministry said that Iran had hinged much of its strategy on winning Russia's support. The political scientist asked not to be identified so as not to compromise his relationship with people in the government.

The political scientist said some negotiators believed that by being hostile to the West they would be able to entice Moscow into making Tehran its stronghold in the Middle East. "They thought the turn east was the way forward," the person said. "That was a belief and a vision."

The person added, "They thought, 99 percent, Russia would seize the opportunity and back the Iranian leaders."

Why would Russia want Iran to produce nuclear bombs? Chechnya is just up the road and Chechens have enthusiastically murdered a school full of children. Not to mention people in Moscow and generally conducting Islamic Jihad. Imagine Beslan with a nuke in it. Or Moscow with a suicide bomber driving up to the Kremlin with a nuke on board fresh from Iran.

It's Islamic Jihad versus the rest and that includes China, India and Russia, not just vs The Great Satan and little devils [UK, Oz etc].
