I can't see why that would occur. Random mutations occur continuously in the animal population

They're asymptotically declining in all species. All species on earth will eventually die off from natural causes. Nothing humans can do to stop this from happening. Only humans will be able to survive through technology. Doesn't matter how hard humans try to preserve other species. Eventually the humahns hit the 9595 barrier too, although it takes something like 50 million years.

regardless of the fact that we have technology unless what you are implying is that if an intelligent lizard or bird arrived on the planet, we'd kill it before it had a chance to increase it's population.

I'm stating that all animal life will be gone in 10,000 years. The plants and fish can make it another 500 million years.

So if an intelligent animal did occur, they'd be smart to continue to look dumb.

Earth is quarantined to exo imports.

Anyone who has a pet begins to wonder who is smarter, the pet who has all their needs provided for them or the human who does all the providing.

Animals can only mimic their owners with the taxis driven intent of getting food and attention.

My cat is far too smart to put up with half the crap I do every day.

How does your cat deal with its own crap?
