Nobody knew for sure what Bush was going to do, though we certainly had our suspicions. He had Colin Powell go to the UN and it all looked legit for awhile. But not only was Powell's intel phony, but as soon as Bushies didn't get Security Council support, they broke off diplomacy and prepared to rush in. Even kicked out the inspectors.

Byrd may have been right. And Kennedy too, who endorsed and still endorses Kerry. But Kerry was running for commander in chief, and was on record as being strongly for the forced (if necessary) disarmament of Saddam. Kerry did not trust Bush, but could not publicly predict Bush was lying and would rush in unprepared. So instead, he promised to hold Bush accountable if he broke his word and rushed into Iraq. Which Bush did. So Kerry did hold him accountable.

You also continue to ignore the fact that the Senate Intel Committee was getting false and misleading intel from the White House and CIA. That was Cheney's doing. The White House lied to congress with the help of Pat Roberts and others.

Also remember, these Bushies always try to force democrats to vote "yes or no" when neither is correct. Strictly for political reasons. Like when they rushed a vote to "withdraw immediately from Iraq", misrepresenting what Jack Murtha was proposing, just to try and make democrats look undecided or weak on defense. One of their favorite dirty tricks. Did Feingold vote to withdraw immediately? Of course not, because it was a Bushie dirty trick vote.
