It is usually futile to try to talk facts and analysis to people who are enjoying a sense of fairness in their ignorance.

Want proof that this statement is true? Just read everything Hugo Chavez says, his appeal is to the lowest common denominator.

In other words, Pandering is his substitute for knowledge. In the arena of politics, Leadership emerges when someone realizes that thier self interest is effectuated by leading others according to the prejudice of an audience. The results of these appeals always end badly. Pandering as a replacement for knowledge is successful because cliches are easily transferred between parties not trained to discriminate. Discrimination implies risk, stepping outside the momentum to see with better eyes......there is no favor in cultivating rigor when systems promise rewards for adopting myths.

All political posturing should be deconstructed to find which elements are pandering, and which elements contain intellectual rigor.
