He is a point guard who can also shoot. The problem is a lack of other scorers, which has forced McNamara to shoot more than normally.

He had some pretty fair support last year..a fellow named Hakim Warrick. Check out GMac's shooting percentage for last year (and this).

Gmac has played point only because after Billy Edelin left due to medical reasons.. Boeheim had no choice.

He's played the point well the last 4-5 games but if you follow the team you know that playing PG has hurt Gmac's offensive efficiency. He really should be playing the 2 guard and have a decent PG setting him up. His shooting percentage from 2 and 3 has been sorry the past two years.

At the division 1A level GMac is much better suited at shooting guard. His ability to set up team mates has been average at best..excluding his emergence during the Big East Tournament.

I do agree that the lack of offensive support on the part of his team mates (this year) has hurt him. Way too much pressure on him on offense.

I like McNamara but he would have been better served if he had the luxury of not trying to be both a shooter and a PG...like Redick.

There's no denying that GMac's point guard skills have not been consistently good. He's a 2 guard playing point.

I've been following Syracuse basketball since before Pearl Washington was on the scene. SU has had some good pure point guards...Sherman Douglas, Jason Hart, Allen Griffin, Laz Sims. GMac is a great player but PG isn't his best/natural position at this level.

After the Tennessee thriller ended, I was waiting for the Alabama or Nevada games, but they cut away to The Ellen Degeneres Show. What?!?!?!?!
