"Could Bush actually break 30%?"

I said about mid-last year that he wouldn't be in the most SERIOUS of trouble until he polled approval numbers in the upper 20s.... (Nixon was right at 27% approval, I believe, right before his resignation.)

Because Bush II had/has much more solid, dedicated & vocal support from among his base then Nixon ever did... I expected that Bush II would be able to function in government relatively better then Nixon with similar high over all disapproval numbers though.

(Regarding their respective support from among their 'conservative' bases though: where Nixon had his wage/price freeze and high inflation and unpopular war... Bush II has his deficits, massive government over-spending, and unpopular war. Both engaged in actions that were bound to rankle true conservatives.)
