Find and read it. Along with "The Little Black Bag"(which you might have seen on TV) and "The Merchants of Venus"(aka "The Space Merchants"). Kornbluth(translates to "wheat blood") wrote during the era when science fiction(or SF, never scfi or "skiffy") was all about cautionary tales. Kornbluth died in 1958 while shoveling snow. Pohl Anderson thinks it was because his heart was weakened during his tour at the Battle of the Bulge. Regardless, we are poorer because of it.

Scary is an understatement.
