in bush case i believe he made a big difference in getting tax cuts through congress and avoided a recession. from what i have read lots of economists agree on the issue.

True. The best politicians could do for an economy is to interfere as little as possible. However, they know that real power is in being able to take from Peter to give Paul... so, they keep inserting themselves every place they can.
