Oral and Thread, Actually, NyQuil contains pseudoephendrine which goes along way toward drying up mucoid secretions (as does Sudafed) plus other symptom-relieving ingredients.

Yes, I know pseudoephedrine is an ingredient in the street drug, "speed," and it is going to get increasingly difficult to buy NyQuil, et al, off the shelf or over the counter. Already, we are limited on the quantity we can by in one setting.

Alcohol can be very bad for those with respiratory diseases, as alcohol depresses the respiratory system, giving pneumonia an invitation. Here, I will admit that it is a do as I say, not as I do thingie. Nothing beats a good hot toddy or two or three when one has a cold or flu. - Holly
