"Why not a national fuel tax based on usage ??"

Don't we already have that in the price of gas? Why do liberals want to take everybody's money? Greedy little fellas, I guess.

"it would place the tax on those best able to pay ie Hummer
owners .."

It would hurt those who cannot afford a new car and those who must drive long distances for their jobs. The elitist left forgets about these folks they claim to want to help with their greedy attempts to take more money from working Americans. The left has made it too expensive for working folks to live where they work if they work in places like San Francisco. Drive up real estate prices by setting aside land for rich liberals to enjoy, and then tax the poop out of some poor sole that has to commute from Modesto every day to make a living. The folks you love to hate (the ones that can afford hummers) already pay more if Fed and State Income taxes. Not to mention the tax they paid on the hummer.

Is your goal to tax the hard working folks who succeed in America into poverty? Greedy, greedy liberals.

Read the article I posted on Ginsburg and you can see that the liberals even think that the job of a USSC Justice is NOT to interpret OUR constitution. It is to craft legislation based on what forigners do. Scary. Seems like you guys would just want to move to France instead of changing our country into France.

Looks like a mess to me...who is to say whether Jim Bob needs to drive more than Sally Ann? Or whether Sally has 13 kids and needs a bigger vehicle than Jim Bob?

I would think that Hummer owners are actually a very small percentage of any equation. But go to any Texas High School and you will find about 40 or 50 percent pickups and usually older ones that do not do very well on gas mileage.

If you place a tax on Hummer owners, then no one would buy a Hummer... are you saying you want the Hummer manufacturer to go out of business? Do you have any idea how silly you sound?

What about tractor trailers? Ships that use diesel fuel? How about diesel locomotives? How about oil used for power generation? You only can think about people's cars?
