With a few happy exceptions, our rights have been steadily eroded since the founding of the republic. This isn't the fault of one person or one party alone. The Democrats are complicit in myriad ways, and for them to expect me to believe that they are champions of liberty is ludicrous. The problem is that people would rather believe lies (such as, "We can solve problem X with program Y") than hear the truth (e.g. "no social/economic problem is truly soluble", or "you are responsible for your own happiness").
