They have a latte stand? How do the prisoners pay? do they actually have money in prison? I thought they were supposed to be punished. My brother in law applied for a job in a county prison but quit after the training because they wouldn't let guards deal with the prisoners effectively. Everything had to be a 'professional' response, even if the bastards spit, bit, smeared feces, groped, and so forth. He said they were assumed to be Hepatitis C positive, and Lord knows what else. He said the prisoners knew they had the upper hand and played it for all it was worth. On the other hand, my son installed some aligner equipment in the Oregon Prison. He got fingerprinted, stamped, given an ID bracelet and told not to lose it or he would have trouble getting out. He asked the prison guy "What if you do if there's trouble -- a riot, or something?" Answer: "See that pile of sand over there? We fire three rounds from an AR-15 in that. They get the picture." "When was the last time you had a riot? " Answer: "Never." Growing up, I remember when there was a riot at the Montana State Prison in Deerlodge. All the ranchers showed up with their .30-30s, and waited around to see if they were needed. Finally, the National Guard fired a bazooka into the tower where they were holed up and the riot was over. TV and exercise equipment? For the guards, maybe. Not the prisoners.
