Since Nixon created the EPA it's not unreasonable to think we could have Republicans again with a sense of balance between growth and environmental protection. Seems like one of the easier issue for a reasonable moderate to strike a balance. If the current brand of Republicans sinks as low as it seems they might, the door is wide open for a different breed to take up the banner by the next election. Already we are seeing Congressional Republicans start to split on individual issues.
