How does paying suicide families make him a threat to world peace... Not a nice guy, but unworthy of an invasion that has cost more than 100,000 lives, including 2300 of our own. Saddam was contained by the no fly zones which controlled 2/3 of his country.... he wasn't going anywhere...and he had no WMD which was the conclusion of all the inspection teams..

Saddam had almost no involvement in terrorism. He only started paying Palestinians when Bush threatened him, and it was a insincere, self-serving move. Who knows if any money actually changed hands.

Saddam was a secular leader (sort of a fascist with a yen for grandoise luxury, sex and violence) with a long history of killing and torturing Islamic fundamentalists. Those mass graves Sean Hannity raves about were filled mainly with Islamic Jihadists fighting for their freedom against Saddam's brutal Sunni regime.

Saddam claimed he was joining Bush's pals the Saudis in paying Palestinian bomber families against Israel to try and mend fences with the Islamic Jihad types. But the last thing Saddam wanted to promote was real Jihad. Al Qaida would want Saddam taken out as well. Al Qaida had Saddam on their target list. And there is no evidence Sddam ever tolerated AL Qaida on his soil.

The amount of disinformation spread by the Bushies prior to the war is shameful. While Saddam was a mid level potential threat, he was not a grave or imminent threat, Bush-Cheney picked him because he was easy to knock off and had tons of oil. Also, comparing him to Hitler and WWII is ridiculous. Saddam didn't even have an air force.

Also, like they used the phony Swarmer Mission this week for political PR, Bushies used the lead-up to the Iraq invasion to steal the 2002 midterms thereby giving themselves carte blanche to steal from the taxpayers and consumers, with no subpoena powers, checks and balances.

In short, the Iraq War is a disgrace and actually helped our enemies while making us much weaker (and poorer). The peopel responsible for lying to us to get us into this war ought to be impeached and indicted.
