LOL. The exorbitant level of taxation is the fault of taxpayers that want too much from their municipality or county

Actually in my area it can be laid at the feet of the Federal Government starting programs and downloading them to the provincial government who downloaded other programs like housing and welfare onto the Municipal government. The city government is trying to pay for immense costs with no control over what money is being spent. Now the Provincial Government is writing in special pensions for Firemen and police, no doubt a fine idea, but for an already cash strapped small city government an immense burden. We have deteriorating roads and infrastructure, demands from the feds to provide new sewers and watermains as they widen the QEW, and 147 buildings that haven't been properly maintained. The only bright side to all this is if southern Ontario goes into a depression, maybe the ROC can pay back some of the money we have been providing for Equalization payments for the last 100 years. Small town Ontario is getting desperate, surely a good sign for the rest of the country.
