Stowe is a nice mountain, but at times the usual corduroy surface gets broken up by the grooming machines into little balls of ice. It's like skiing on ball bearings.

I had some friends who raved about Stowe.

Tourists ski at Stowe.

When I lived in VT, I did my skiing mainly at Smuggler's Notch (other side of the mountain from Stowe).

Other favorite local areas were Glen Ellen and Mad River Glen.

I used to enjoy Bolton also. Close to Burlington, cheap lift tickets, and not very crowded.
