Doesn't argue for moral equivalence between them.

I suspect the fuss is because that's not good enough. I think that anything that fails to cheerlead for the "good guys" is considered to be inherently biased against them.

FWIW I didn't think Munich was all that great, but I also didn't think it showed any moral equivalencies, either. IMO it was more a personal story about how violence changes even men who have a "noble" cause. It didn't speak to what kind of cause the terrorists might have had- so we never know if their cause was "noble"- but since they are pretty ruthless, and seem to be trigger happy (unlike the careful Israelis with their surgical killing and plotting and their heartfelt desire to save a little girl, even though they still want to blow up her papa) I'd say that it was in fact showing there was NOT a moral equivalence, at least by inference.

I would say it was pro the main character- poor tortured assassin that he is (and sort of pro his compatriots - although they are all more flawed than our dear noble main character Mr. Assassin leader), and that's about it. It annoyed me that it glorified assassination - not something I'm interested in seeing glorified.

I think a History of Violence ALSO glorified killing. OK, sure, they put the guy in a situation where he "has to" kill all these people. It's a set up, so you'll root for him to kill people. Very manipulative, and so annoying (to me). The gore was well done, and one of the sex scenes was one of the most realistic I've ever seen (I was chatting with the video store clerk about this- and we both decided it was like a home video or something- VERY graphic even though you don't actually see genitalia).

I guess, in the end, after reflection, I'd have to say there are better movies to see, and better morals drawn, in other movies.
