IMO the rightwingers are not looking for economic stimulus, they're looking for wealth transfer to themselves. Economic stimulus would best have been served by providing capital for small businesses and capital to the poor.

Small businesses provide most of the job growth and the poor would immediately spend their capital instead of stashing it away on a Carribbean island.

Ditto the money spent on Iraq which not only takes away domestic opportunities for economic growth but also raised gas prices further hampering growth. I heard that real wages have fallen behind inflation ever since Dubya took office.

Making Medicare a massive transfer of wealth from seniors to BigPHarma is another rightwinger wealth transfer. Ditto the bankruptcy bill for BigCredit.

IMO the US of A is in a serious decline: competitively, financially and in international influence.

We are in a world of trouble and, if China can keep itself together politically and socially and India stays out of wars, we are not going to be able to recover.
