Fact is, polygamy is not the norm, and a very few people in the United States practice it. I doubt there are very many "families" of consenting adults out there involved in polygamous groups.

It's not the norm here, but in much of Africa and the Muslim world, it is the norm. And many immigrants to this country are coming from polygamous areas. Surely they will use the arguments that have already been successfully applied by the proponents of same-sex marriage to argue for their own Equal Protection Clause and Freedom of Religion rights?

Yes, that is what I have heard and I would find that to be illegal and tanamount to RAPE as a young girl under 18 BY DEFINITION has not reached the age of consent and thus should not be considered to have made a consensual relationship. I also have heard there may be as many as 50,000 polygamous relationships in the USA. jdn
