Neo, I haven't studied a lot of companies in the USA, but you shouldn't forget the hordes of small businesses. I guess the overall average profit is something like a P:E of about 15 in the USA [including all registered companies including little cafes, plumbing businesses, shops and other commercial enterprises].

The market cap of USA commerce is vast. I think it's fair enough to include that income in considering total debt.

But I mistrust debtors so do NOT intend holding much in the way of cash [though I currently do and have done for a few years for particular reasons which have largely gone away now]. When those debtors control the printing press, their temptation will become irresistible. Most people wouldn't think of themselves as like self-destructive heroin addicts. But debt is similar. It's painless and fun at first. Getting in too deep is common. Suddenly, there's no way out. Abrogating the debt is normal.

My guess is that the USD will go to near-zero value in about 20 years [and maybe as soon as 10 years could lose a LOT of its value]. Not because of inflation but because of competition.

Big Ben won't be able to do anything about it.
