Apparently about 40% of marriages end in divorce in the USA.
Know what that says? That says 60% last till death do them part.
Not bad.when you think about it.

That 40%? That means people can now escape from mistakes they previously would have been stuck in. Like spouse beating or alcoholism, say.

You REALLY think you can design a system where 100% of marriages last forever AND abuse is avoided? Go ahead and do it. I will enjoy watching this farce.

I know marriage is still very popular in the USA. Heck, Elizabeth Taylor was married 7 times.
There you go un-exaggerating again, Mq. Liz was married 8 times (counting 2 to King Richard).
