As ex energy secretary you would think Richardson would have a better grip on what is at stake in Iraq. Leaving more territory for Iran or Al Qaeda only leaves our enemies with more opportunity to bring the world economy to a halt.

While Iraq degrades further its oil production is placed at a further risk. Then we have problems in Nigeria with attacks on oil production.

Three differing bottom lines on Iraq:

Richardson - Set pull out date; USA should use diplomacy. Translation: Quit

Romney - Not time to cut and run; Irresponsible to leave too soon.
Translation: Stay the course and work harder.

Clark - Push Shiites to share power and oil with Sunnis. Irresponsible to leave too soon.
Translation: Stay the course and work harder.
