But most political parties in power in the developed world are not that repugnant; some may be closer or further from your philosophy but they hold the keys to government budget resources and policies. That's where you have to go to get results.

There is a flip side problem of politicians smiling and back-slapping through lots of formal appearances that seem to lend support to a cause, then doing diddly squat in terms of real action.

Oh OK, we were talking about two different things. Not the first time that's happened. :)

I hadn't been aware that Bono ever attended Republican party fundraisers. I know he's approached politicians from both parties.
