Hamas has not struck outside Israel, have they?
Therefore, that is Israelis business. We cannot "become" Israel. This is one of the things I was most wary of with these Bushie neocons, that they were trying to turn us into Israel with their martial law, walls, constant tit for tat deadly strikes and all the rest. We can learn a lot from the Israelis, but we never become like them. After all, they are a small surrounded by enemies. We are a huge country 7000 miles away from the Middle East.

9-11 was a huge deal, but it was just one lucky strike. And Bush has still not captured the ones responsible. We are also not at permanent war with the Arabs/Palestinians the way Israel is. We are only enemies of the Jihadists because we back Israel and are addicted to Arab oil.

As Bush's ill-fated invasion of Iraq proves, we much be much smarter and more circumspect about where, how and why we pick our fights, lest we throw the baby out with the bathwater and end up defeating ourselves. And we need to stop doing things alone. We need a lot more allies. Going it alone is a recipe for disaster.
