There are countless articles and books written linking the mystery religions and superstitions between various religions.> Cause I"m not writting a book... he did. :) BTW.. that latest link is a hoot! <ALL CLAIMS OF JESUS DERIVE FROM HEARSAY ACCOUNTS> ROFLMAO!!!!!! Hearsay... as opposed to....??? Too funny. What about Pythagorous?? You know most ancient knowlege of history (other than archelogical info) is really hearsay no? We know all this stuff....: <<Not only do we not know who wrote them, consider that none of the Gospels got written during the alleged life of Jesus, nor do the unknown authors make the claim to have met an earthly Jesus. Add to this that none of the original gospel manuscripts exist; we only have copies of copies. The consensus of many biblical historians put the dating of the earliest Gospel, that of Mark, at sometime after 70 C.E., and the last Gospel, John after 90 C.E. [Pagels, 1995; Helms]. This would make it some 40 years after the alleged crucifixion of Jesus that we have any Gospel writings that mention him! Elaine Pagels writes that "the first Christian gospel was probably written during the last year of the war, or the year it ended. Where it was written and by whom we do not know; the work is anonymous, although tradition attributes it to Mark..." [Pagels, 1995]>> ....is more rehash of the same old thing... everyone knows Jesus never wrote anything and that no one really knows who wrote what and when... and therefore a giant game of "telephone" was going on if Jesus was real... Is this new?? Does this mean Jesus "didn't exist"?? NO, it means there is no conclusive proof he did (of course they don't mention that even if the disciples themselves had supposedly written things down, there would be no reason to believe it... I wouldn't necessarily.) Fact is there is no proof he existed, and no proof he didn't... unless one would take that fact that all sorts of people took painstaking time and effort to spread 'someones' teachings... write them down... create a church etc. as evidence of existance. Besides... all this leads (for me) to a decidedly different conclusion than you get: This shows what I"ve argued all along is possible... that there is great truths in Jesus teachings that have been muddied by ensuing interpretations and translation (or 'telephone' effect if you will). This is actually pretty easy to see if you read the Eastern works.... in fact no one who understands and thinks Taoist or Buddhist teachings are important DONT believe Jesus existed or that he taught essentially the same thing... in fact that's a huge misunderstanding between them... the East thinks Jesus was a "master" of the highest level... Christians think he was "actually" 'god' and that to assume there were others on the planet EVER even close to his 'enlightenment' is blasphamy. I know for you the "no proof" point means Jesus didn't exist.... and I readily accept that, but I don't agree, that's OK, no? Anyway, bottom line you believe Jesus never existed, and I believe he did... should we do the 'battle of the authors' or 'battle of the google links', or just drop it?? BTW, are the realistic possiblilites/ visions/ of a potential god EVER going to be discussed on this thread??? DAK
