Some say he learned about reincarnation but that did not fit with paying your way to heaven or buying someone out of purgatory or giving enough money to the church to make sure you were not damned!

Actually DAK I know th eanswer to that question I think. One of my philosophy professors said many jews went away for years to study whatevr it was jews studied in those days.

But it was common practise.
