Hitler was a vegetarian and a homo, sounds like a Berkeley Student. Ergo all Berkeley students are Hitler

His mistake isn't with stating an opinion, it is with the lack of preface - "there are those that believe." He has the right to give his students the opportunity to hear a different perspective but without feeling like it was the only valid opinion. And he has an obligation to convey the other perspectives as well. In fact, the purpose of a teacher is to facilitate the flow of different perspectives. So, a teacher that says, "Bush is great" without prefacing it with "there are some who believe" is equally in error.

I agree. It does not appear he handled the prefacing of the conversation very well. Then again, none of us were there and we're relying on hearsay and the rather precocious nazi kid with the MP3 player.
