Halibut freezes well too. It just does not seem to last long when thawed. I have never had a bad frozen halibut steak. Until recently I have not had bad halibut at all. Now it is very expensive and likely to be spoiled if bought fresh. Heck, maybe it is so expensive that no one buys it and thus it sits in the case for a week and goes bad. Maybe that is what happened to me.

In general I prefer cold water fishes.

Salmon, cod, halibut, trout, haddock, sole
Halibut is far and away my favorite (but not when it is spoiled).

Warm water fishes spoil easily IMO
