Any threatened vetos? Other than the port deal (what a waste of political capital), has he even tried to hold the line on spending by threatening to use the power he has?

As for his budget guidelines....too rich by half. Medicare drug bill, Highway bill, farm bill, fat, fat, fat. Earmarks by the ton...and he signs em all.

The plan has been to offer the Congress the opportunity to act responsibly (uniting, rather than dividing) OR to let them hang themselves from Bridges to Nowhere, or get lost and starve in a Grassley Jungle.

They have definitely not acted responsibly, and the people have noticed that.

The administration's strategy is thus still valid. Bush could take them on-but that would just be adding the RINO's to the already successful fight against the Democrat domestic enemy. We have 527's to take on the RINO's.

Also remember that worry about "deficits" and "the debt", are virtually non-existent outside the Beltway (where it's entirely a propaganda tool), or the offices of the bond whores, who dream of a constant state of economic depression...
