I remember a high school student telling me her parents got her an IRA (or something for her retirement savings that sounded like an IRA.) The oldest boomers are the ones that would have been impacted during the late 70s when they were starting to work, so it makes sense to cover them partially more so. RE: "no talk that Social Security wouldn't be around, or that benefits would be cut" I think Reagan cut this in early 80s? So, again that would have caught the older boomers off guard, you're right. I think publicly funded elections would be helpful but not the total solution, because it would not guarantee representation of the people of all aspects. I think you have to allocate a certain percentage for each of the variations. x% for this age bracket, x% for that age bracket, etc., ...., 50% women, 50% men, w% for weathy, w% for poor, etc. RE: "Right now each political party has a farm system...and only the conformist clones make it through the to run for higher office... so the special interests get their money's worth." Duke of Url said this is why Dean lost. He said it wasn't the scream, but how the Dems turned their back on Dean and used the scream as an opportune time to do so, because he didn't support special interests.
