I think josh was right on syria--there is more to our relations with the persians. They aint arabs and they aint wahabi jihadis and so in a sense we have the same nightmare. But its too late for that now or too early if bush somehow regains his footing. You should read Cobra 2. The indictment of this admin is right on and very hard for a supporter of their fp to accept. But i have. Bush, cheney, rummy killed the neocons thru mismanageament and a lack of committemtn to neocon ideals. I go back to NYC when rudy became mayor. First thing he did was to arrest the squeegy guys who used to stop cars coming in from the briges and tunnels. Quality of life minor crimes were attacked first. I thought of that when rummy called the looting just blowing off steam. Wrong and iraqis looked and saw that the US was saying the same thing to crime that saddam might have said--not my job. If we had stood up to the looter and committed more troops on day 1, we might be in a far better place.
