Peter, For any nation to be totally secure, it has to be the strongest. I know that the Bible says that the meek will inherit the earth, but being meek, is like being a lamb, which if the lambs don't grow up to be strong, they will just be led to the slaughter house by the bell cow. Yes, it is quite important that we use our power in a fair, and positive, way. We tried to influence the rest of the world with our ability to thrive, and become the richest nation on earth, but all that did was make the others jealous, and want to take us out of the picture. Therefore, if we are to be a good example for the rest of the world, we must show them that they can do the same as we did if they use the right path. Through out history, the poor have always hated the rich. They envy the accomplishments, and wealth that we worked, and fought for and wanted the same but were not willing to make the same sacrifices. Those that whine about our power are the lazy, malcontents, that pity themselves without realizing that they are the ones that brought their lifestyle down on themselves. There are the Americans that want socialism because they don't want to work. They want to be able to take from the GNP without lifting a finger to help themselves. That will, eventually, destroy America unless capitalism is maintained, but I fear that there are too many takers, and not enough earners, for us to survive.
