It's much easier for a politician to send a few cruise missiles into the Chinese Embassy or a pill factory than it is to do something useful with the military.

I think it is essential for the USA to maintain overwhelming superiority and the willingness to use it effectively for justified reasons.

The USA has the moral maturity to use overwhelming superiority for legitimate reasons. I certainly wouldn't want to see the same power fall into the wrong hands.
