They ask a question then obviously don't listen to the answer and then create a story to send home that makes things look as awful as they can look. Frankly I'm amazed the General didn't just go into a screaming rage with the fools and tell them they are all stuck on stupid:) Every time I see one of these interviews I wonder how my favorite General, Patton would have faired. He likely would have taken out the pearl handled revolvers and started putting people out of their misery. At the very least you know there would have been a tongue lashing delivered using language that would wilt a flower:)
