I have to agree. "Saving Private Ryan" was a good movie about the Army, but nothing comparable has been offered about the Corps. They all seem to dwell on the Drill Instructors being such bad asses. "Battle Cry" by Leon Uris was a good book about the Marine Corps. There has been no movie that emulates that standard at all.

How about "Gomer Pyle, USMC"? Of course, you need to enjoy watching the Andy Griffith Show. <g> W.E.B. Griffin writes entertaining stories about the troops, including Marines. Often, he writes from the grunt's perspective. If you are new to him, I suggest starting with his first book. He uses many of the same characters throughout the various stories. Fast and easy read. He employs a good mixture of historical facts in with his fictional characters.
