I frankly don't see why people object to a secure national ID card. Isn't social security the same thing, only a lot less secure? Aren't drivers licenses also the same thing only a heck of a lot less secure? I fail to see how the government can use a secure ID card system to infringe on people's rights anymore than they already do with the existing ID systems. Doesn't the government already know just about anything it wants to know about honest citizens via the tax system, drivers licenses, credit bureaus, etc?

The LACK of a secure national ID card exposes honest people to identity theft and other crimes, and enables unlimited illegal immigration. I can understand people and businesses that benefit from illegal immigration not wanting a secure national ID card, but for the rest of us it will be a huge benefit.
