Of course an American national ID card will have no religious affiliation, ethnic background, education or other such irrelevant information. It will have name, birth date, SS number, and biometric information that securely identifies one. I see it as a secure way to prove that you are who you are to anybody that requires it such as for voting, opening accounts, getting credit cards, etc. Nobody can force you to produce it, except for law enforcement, but you must produce it to participate in an activity that requires positive identification. Employers will be required to check the ID of new hires, thus establishing without question who the potential employee is. Weeding out illegals and foreign terrorists will be a snap. Identity theft will disappear. Crime in America will take a dramatic fall.
