The smearvets were an evil dishonorable dirty trick paid for by corporate money. They had almost nothing to do with real vets and were run by Rove-DElay's dirty tricks PR squad. This website exposes the smearvets for who/what they really are. swiftvets.eriposte.com was so obvious they were all lying, but the power Bushies held over the press at that time neutralized the press's normal ability to reject false stories. I spoke to Laurence O'Donnell, the editor of MSNBC, and I praised him for outright calling O'Neill a LIAR! to his face. He frowned and said he wished there had been a better way, but once those smear campaigns are on the air, it's difficult because you cannot deal with them rationally so long as the rightwing all continues lying in chorus, and if you lose your temper you look out of control. Beware future Bushie smear campaigns. If this worked for them once they may try it again. Actually they used it more than once, the trumped-up sex charges and whisper campaign against Clinton (murderer, drug-runner, rapist. etc) and the same against McCain in South Carolina 2000.
